A TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER – A LIFE OF KINDNESS AND SERVICE

Janitri Team

My Mother was a woman of immense kindness, love an unwavering pure soul. She lived her life selflessly, always thinking of others before herself. No matter what anyone said to her, she never retaliated with harsh words. Instead, she believed in responding with patience and compassion.

Her heart was deeply inclined toward social work and she devoted her time in helping those in need. I still remember when I had just started my job – while I was adjusting to my new routine, she was busy shaping young lives. She would gather poor children from construction sites, bring them home and teach them. Education was a gift she wanted to give to every child and she did it with a heart full of love.

One of the most touching things she did was repurpose of old clothes in a way none of us had imagined. Initially, we would donate our old clothes to the underprivileged, but she asked us to give them to her instead. It was only later that we discovered her beautiful initiative. She would wash and sanitize the fabric, transform them into sanitary pads and distribute them to poor girls. More than just giving, she educated them on menstrual hygiene, ensuring that they understood its importance. She was ahead of her time, breaking taboos and making a real difference.

Summers were never just another season for her, they were an opportunity to serve. She would buy milk, roohafza and ice, gather all the ladies from her society and set up a service to provide cool drinks to people in need on the road. It was more than just quenching thirst – it was a way to bring the community together. I would bring my boys along and it was always a joyous occasion, filled with laughter, service and a sense of fulfilment.

She deeply cared about children and their overall development. She noticed how kids were getting lost in gadgets, so she took it upon herself to bring them back to learning and creativity. She organized quizzes in her society, encouraging children to prepare compete and engage in healthy competition. Not only that, but she also directed Ram Leela performance, ensuring that every child including housekeeping boys and girls, underprivileged kids, got a role. She believed in inclusion, in giving every child a moment to shine.

My mother was not just a person, she was a force of love, service and transformation. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on countless lives. She may not be with me physically, but her teachings, values and the warmth of her love continue to guide me every single day.

She was and always will be my greatest inspiration.
